Camp Broadway Dance is a three-day musical theatre intensive for aspiring performers ages 14-18, designed specifically for dancers who want to hone their singing and acting skills. The 25-strong ensemble will also learn original choreography from Dreamgirls, attend a Broadway performance and more.
Participants receive 3 eight-hour days of training in the style of an influential Broadway choreographer or musical and immersion in the historical context of dance on Broadway, masterclasses and workshops with a team of veteran Broadway guest artists, a trip to Motown the Musical, with a post-performance discussion with cast and crew and an exclusive shopping experience at Capezio Shoes and Dancewear.
At Camp Broadway Dance students are taught how to apply classic dance technique to a real Broadway rehearsal room, immersing them in the dance style of a specific Broadway show or choreographer, for this session specifically dance styles reminiscent of Motown days to demonstrate how to communicate through movement. This authentic Broadway experience culminates in a studio presentation of the signature show to family members.
