Young Creatives - new for 2014
Stacey MacNaught |
Calling all budding young choreographers!
Run since 2008, Youth Dance England Young Creatives is a choreographic programme that aims to enhance young people’s skills and knowledge of choreography, giving them the opportunity to present their own work in an encouraging and nourishing environment. For Young Creatives 2014, YDE will be working with four organisations across England to create four new regional projects which will open up opportunities for more young people to develop their choreographic skills.

Each new project under the Young Creatives umbrella will encompass the specific expertise and areas of interest present within the hosting organisation, which will be a new project led by DanceDigital, based in the East of England, Young Visionaries led by Ludus Dance, based in the North West, Xzibit, a project by Gareth Woodward, based in the East Midlands and a new project by ZoieLogic Dance Theatre, based in the South West.
YDE is pleased to continue working in partnership with The Royal Ballet School and Royal Opera House on this project, providing opportunity for the chosen young choreographers from all four regions to come together. YDE will still be hosting a residential element to the Young Creatives project for the ‘Regional Project’ participants to get involved with, at White Lodge in Richmond Park, in addition to the presentation of work in the the Clore Studio Theatre at the Royal Opera House.
This change to the programme aims to provide young people aged 14-18, from across the country, more opportunity to learn about choreography with experts drawing upon different dance styles, new technology, site specific and theatrical elements to create exciting new works. Pushing Young Creatives out throughout the country, other, perhaps more disadvantaged, choreographers will be able to take part. We would love a Dancewear Central customer to be part of the project, why don't you get involved today?
